A former Banchory pupil is returning to Deeside as part of a major Dance festival at the town’s Woodend Barn this week.
Lucy Boyes is part of Plan B Dance company who are performing at Woodend Barn on Friday, October 25.
‘More Sky Than We Need’ is a piece inspired by the vast sky above our heads.
Taking inspiration from The Cloud by Percy Bysshe Shelley and from choreographer Frank McConnell’s own contemplations, the piece is reflective, exploring how the natural wonders above dictate our moods and actions.
Lucy, who has been a professional dancer for a number of years, will be joined by Chrissie Ardill and Emma Snellgrove for the performance. Accompanied throughout by live music the piece is completed by a magical, layered design by Miranda Melville.
Before the performance plan B will screen their 13 minutes dance film ‘Away From Here’.
Set in the West Highlands the film explores issues of sustainability.
A collaboration between plan B and multi-award winning Goat Media, the film has been screened over 15 times at various festivals in both the UK and around the world.
Woodend Barn’s Director, Nicola Henderson, said: “The Dancelive festival is one of the most exciting in Scotland and always showcases fantasticdance from around the world and the north-east of Scotland. It’s great to welcome Plan B for this
imaginative show and even better that it happens to feature someone from Banchory!”
