A total of 15 talented young performers from Westhill Academy took part in the Young Musician of the Year competition on March 4.
The event, which was organised by the Rotary Club of Westhill and District and held at Trinity Church, Westhill, was supported by a good turnout of friends and family members.
The audience thoroughly enjoyed an evening of good music, played on a wide range of instruments, which included cello, tuba, clarinet and French horn.
The experienced panel of judges complimented everyone for the high standard of playing and at the same time offered the performers sound advice on improving technique and in playing in front of an audience.
In the junior section, Eleanor Cozens on piano was judged to be the winner, while in the senior section, Caitlin Taylor, vocalist, was the winner. The adjudicators declared Eleanor the overall winner and she was presented with the Chap Construction Trophy.
The Iain Grant Memorial Trophy was awarded to Abbie Houston for her contribution to the Music Department of Westhill Academy.
Rotary President John Fraser presented trophies and gift vouchers to the winners and certificates to participants.
