The main fortnight of the Aboyne and Deeside Festival drew to a spectacular close last Friday with Breabach raising the roof in Deeside Community Theatre, writes a contributor.
Joining the Tim Kliphuis Trio, a star-studded gala variety concert, Dale Templar, David Patrick Dectet and three Shakespeare plays, there were appreciative audiences for all the events.
Events in other locations all attracted sell-out large audiences, from Scottish Opera’s Pop Up Operas in a van, to Philip Green, Megan Rolf and Eddie Gibbons at Migvie Church and Steve Garrett and Simon Welfare at Aboyne and Dinnet Church of Scotland.
The August programme ends with an Evening of Praise in St Thomas’s Church, Aboyne, on Sunday, August 21, at 6 pm.
The final event brings the stellar young Russian pianist Pavel Kolesnikov to Aboyne to play the fine Bechstein piano, in the Deeside Community Theatre on Friday, September 17.
The festival committee would like to thank all who have been part of the audiences this summer and those who have been involved in the smooth running of this year’s programme.
The exceptionally high standard of all the events and the warm appreciation of every audience made the 2016 festival so successful and enjoyable.
