The new market will take place in Scott Skinner Square monthly on the last Saturday of each month

Following on from the success of Banchory Farmers Market, plans to operate a second monthly market were developed by Banchory and District Initiative earlier this year.

The new market will focus on quality handmade and handcrafted items and aims to give talented local makers, artists and designers a regular selling platform in the town to build up their customer base.

Original plans to start the market from April had to be put on hold due to the Covid 19 outbreak as the town went into shut down. Revised arrangements for the market have now been put in place which allows for enhanced social distancing space between stalls and a strict one way system through the market directing visitors from the entry point off the High Street to the designated exit point onto Bridge Street.

The new market will take place in Scott Skinner Square monthly on the last Saturday of each month from 12-4pm and forms part of more ambitious plans to promote the town and better utilise Scott Skinner Square.

Future plans for Scott Skinner Square include developing a regular performance area which will be available to local musicians and performers.

Plans are also well underway to create the Banchory Art Trail which will be hosted in venues throughout the town from early next year to encourage more visitors into the town.
